Mental Health Training For Parents, Schools & Organisations

Schools & Youth Organisations

As a school or organisation you want to do all you can to protect the mental wellbeing of your staff and students – this is where mental health training comes in, as cliche as it might be: “knowledge is power”.

Empower your staff to look after themselves, and look out for those around them by enabling them to recognise the signs of poor or worsening mental health, and provide the skills they need, to take control.

How can I help you?

– Mental Health First Aid Training for your staff
– Wellbeing Assemblies or talks for staff and pupils
– Mental Health Awareness Workshops for older students or “Mini Medics” Courses for students aged 9-12
– Youth Mental Health First Aid Courses – In depth training on areas specific to young people’s mental health, – including certification and Recognised Level 2 Qualifications

Training your staff will mean:

As an employer, you will be better equipped to meet your legal responsibility to help your employees and meet the core standards set out in the ‘Thriving at Work’ report commissioned by the government in 2017. Your staff will receive mental health training that is more than just a slideshow or set of activities that don’t last beyond the afternoon. You’ll be building a healthier culture for your whole school community – and can always turn to us for ongoing support with mental health knowledge and understanding. You can book individual members of staff onto mental health courses online with me, or get a group together for a whole days face to face training. The more you develop your understanding of mental health – the quicker you spot issues with your students, staff or parents and can find solutions.

And you’ll be able to do it with greater compassion and understanding – building better relationships with your team and growing stronger together as a result.

You school or organisation will have a network of people they can turn to when things are difficult
Your students benefit from having leaders who genuinely know what to do, and can have confidence in dark times

You’re less likely to lose staff to unnecessary sick days due to presenteeism as your team will be better able to handle tough moments, spotting their own signs and symptoms and working with you to handle stress more effectively.

As a school, your mental health culture will improve, as will your strength as a team
Coming together as an organisation or school to recognise red flags, be aware of mental health triggers such as trauma, pressure and stress will ensure you adhere to your mental health policy swiftly

You can access funding for the training – so that it doesn’t have to impact on your normal school budget.

Mental Health First Aiders are trained to support someone who is suffering, to get the help they need as soon as possible. With discounts available for group bookings, two-day Mental Health First Aid training courses start from £250 per person – bespoke needs can be discussed. Provision available for standard First Aid for Mental Health or First Aid for Youth Mental Health courses. You can also fit your mental health training in around your school timeline by taking the mental health first aid training online – in small groups or organise face to face mental health training in Essex and the surrounding areas.
