With World Environment Day highlighting the theme of only ‘One World’ I have been focusing on how I work at Soul Focus HQ. And exploring ways you can get more out of the earth whilst looking after your mental health too!
How Do I Help The Environment?

I deliver mental health training online as much as possible. There are other things I do to reduce our impact on the environment too.  Opting for e-certificates and reducing any unnecessary travel in vehicles. Providing mental health courses in and around Essex means the train network allows for the car to be left. Sometimes it’s actually quicker to take public transport! Easily forgotten when you are used to driving. The time spent on trains or buses can be spent doing something nice for yourself too – reading, listening to podcasts or just relaxing before work!

Could this be something you look at with your staff too?

Want to reduce your impact on the environment and improve your wellbeing?

  • Could you keep company meetings online to reduce the need for travel?
  • Hybrid or flexible working options to reduce the amount of commuting needed?
  • Walk and talk to get outside rather than stay cooped up in offices?
  • Save paper files for only strictly needed documents?
  • Reuse paper for to-do lists etc.

If you’d like to talk about paper usage or printing possibilities to reduce wastage – Get in touch for some technical goodness. I can send you in the right direction.

What about getting outside and enjoying the world more?

My lovely friends over at Bangers and Balls did some training with me last year, and are starting a Kitchen Revolution with lots of lovely members from all over the country – possibly even further than the UK? They encourage members of their groups to cook with seasonal produce and teach them how to forage for goods found in the wild.

Getting outside and connecting with nature is so important, it’s one of the most valuable ways we can connect our children with the earth. Imogen Tinkler from Bangers and Balls runs their online membership doing just this. Teaching families how to find one wild or season ingredient each week and showing families how to preserve it too! From dandelions to nettles to elderflower. There is magic all around us when we look.

Imogen told me: “In a world where instagram can feel the norm we understand that doing simple things can sometimes be hard! We make it simple by giving a sense of purpose to your walk by finding one thing. Kids and parents absolutely love it and have a new found appreciation for nature and the seasons.”

For more information about the adventures from the guys at Bangers and Balls, head over to their website; you’ll even find some lovely recipes – guaranteed to make you feel good!

Stuck for time?

If you aren’t sure where you’ll have the time to fit any of this in – start small. Use little exercises to get out and about, like some of the ones found here and practise them outside.
